Superfood Sea Moss Gel ( Irish Moss ) | Healthy Recipes.

Hey Loves!

This Week I made a nutrient packed Superfood Sea Moss Gel. This Gel is the perfect additional to Smoothies, Soups and even a amazing Face mask. For this multipurpose Gel you will only need one ingredient, Sea Moss ( irish Moss).

I admit this sea moss was not easy to find as they typically don’t sell it in your grocery stores. After searching for a couple weeks I found this in a Small Caribbean Grocery store in my city. I have found it online as well.

I am so excited to talk about Sea Moss. This amazing algae from the ocean is living proof that everything we need comes from the earth. Food is Medicine. Sea moss is a natural immune booster and has been used in many cultures as a medicine to treat many illnesses. Sea moss is a whole food, nutrient packed. Sea moss has 92 of the minerals are bodies require. This alone made me super excited to include incorporate into my diet. Sea Moss also aids in digestion as will as improving your overall gut health by getting rid of harmful bacteria. Sea Moss is loaded with B vitamins making it a natural energy booster. Many people use Sea Moss in their skin care routines with great results due to a compound found in the Sea Moss called “Citrulline-Arginine” . This compound helps with collagen regeneration which improves the overall appearance of the skin. One of my favourite benefits is the mood boosting effects sea moss offers because it is High in Magnesium and Potassium.

Now that you know why it is so awesome, here is the instructions for making the Sea Moss.

Step 1: Wash the Sea Moss VERY well. I rinsed it 4 times.

Step 2: Place in a bowl and fill with cold water, limes juice (optional).

Allow to soak overnight .

Step 3: In a large pot bring sea moss to a boil with one cup of water.

Allow Seamoss to thicken.

Step 4: In a blender, puree mixture until smooth.

Allow mixture to cool and store mixture in a sealable jar and keep refrigerated.

With all of these benefits I have to incorporate it into my diet. I recently started adding a Tablespoon to Green Smoothies in the Morning. I love it!!!

Have you tried Sea Moss? How do you incorporate it into your recipes?

Hope your week is magical!

Candy Cane Espresso | Holiday Recipes.

Happy Holidays everyone !

I am a coffee enthusiast , I could drink coffee all day, everyday!  I have chose to enjoy only one Coffee a day. I can’t help but think of the holiday drinks advertised everywhere with tons of sugar and whipped toppings. I decided to make a low calorie / dairy free alternative that will still satisfy your holiday indulgence and NO FOMO! lol

Dairy has easily been one of the most difficult things to remove from my diet over the years. I am so impressed by the selection of different diary free options at the stores. It is no longer just vegans or those with an intolerance. People who are trying something different enjoy the options aswell. I have found a couple stars choices that I can not live without. These 3 are my personal favs.

Soy Milk – Low Calorie/Low Sugar, closest to diary milk, easily flavoured and non GMO/organic options.

My favourite is Almond milk , It’s low in calories and chock-full of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins D, E and A, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and phosphorous. Like soy milk it can be flavoured easily.

Coconut Milk – Coconut milk has a creamy consistency and a coconut-flavoured taste. Coconut milk contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs)

What is your favourite dairy alternative??

I made this a nice rich espresso with non dairy coconut milk frothed to give you the creamy texture of whipped cream and topped it with little candy cane bites.

Here is everything you will need for this Fun espresso.

This makes 4 espressos

2 scoops of your favourite Espresso – Cafe Bustelo (I used the coffee moka to make my espresso)

1/3 Silk Coconut for coffee

1 candy cane crushed for the topping.

Step 1 – Fill bottom of moka with filtered water up to valve. Pack your espresso into the moka and flatten with spoon. Place on stove top on low. Should take about 15 mins to brew.

Step 2: While coffee is brewing start preparing the coconut milk in a french press. Warm coconut milk for 10 seconds and place into the french press and pump it for 1 minute. This coconut silk is good for frothing because it keeps the light conisitency.

Step 3: Put espresso into cups and top with frothy Coconut milk. Top with 1/2 of the crushed candy cane and enjoy!!

This is the perfect after dinner treat!! If you do try it tag me on IG @greencupcaketo

Have a great weekend.

PINA COLADO CRYSTAL RING POPS with BCAA’s

This summer I wanted to focus on sweet summer treats that are primarily plant focused recipes. I always think of ice cream or popsicles when I think of summer treats. I found these amazing crystal ring pop molds at the dollar store and they inspired this recipe.

They are so cute, and nostalgic! The ring pop reminds me of being a kid again. I wanted to make the crystals on the ring pop look like a surprise was inside of them so I had just made some strawberry puree and I knew that both the puree and slices of fresh strawberries would look great with the coconut milk base.

Nothing says summer to me more than pina coladas and the beach. I wanted to make these ring pops super tasty and boost your energy. I decided to add Pineapple BCAA (branch chain amino acids. Bcaa’s are used to activate protein synthesis and increase muscle recovery. Bcaa are fantastic for reducing exercise fatigue. I love to incorporate Bcaa’s into my water when working out to get the most out of my workouts. This was the perfect option to add to these ring pops. Coconut milk + Pineapple Bcaa = Pina Colada ring pops. ❤

These Ring pops are made with only 5 ingredients, and so easy to make.  I added Pineapple BCAA’s to the coconut milk to give the Pina Colada flavour. The molds are in crystal shapes but I wanted to add strawberries to add a little jewels to the ring pops. I added drops of strawberry puree to marble into the rings. These were incredible I felt like I was drinking a pina colada.

Here is everything you will need for 6 Ring pops.

1 cup of Full coconut milk

1 scoop of BCAA pineapple flavour

1/2 strawberries

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp of coconut sugar.

Instructions:

Combine coconut milk and BCAA until smooth, add sliced strawberries and puree. Freeze overnight. Next dip them in hot water to remove from the molds and ENJOY!!!!!!!

What is your favourite summer treat??

Pineapple has a high amounts of manganese, which is important for antioxidant process.  Pineapples are high  thiamin, a B vitamin that is involved in energy production. These naturally sweet fruit are packed with nutrients with vitamin C and Fibre being significantly high. Did you know that Pineapple contain great allergy fighting nutrient called Bromelain which helps reduce mucas in the nose and throat. Another amazing benefit of pineapple is it can be used both externally and internally to improve your skin condition, thanks to the great anti-inflammatory qualities of vitamin C, bromelain and special enzymes. Pineapple is full of amino acid tryptophan that your body uses to produce serotonin – the “happy hormone”. Pineapples has so many other fantastic benefits , but one of my favourites is this delicious fruit stands tall and even has its own crown!! That is a confident fruit. lol !

Now its time from the debatable question, PINEAPPLES on PIZZA?

Green PB & J Smoothie.

Green Smoothies are a great way to start your day. I love trying new ingredients and making new variations of the smoothie but this Green PB AND J smoothie has been one recipe I keep coming back to. It reminds me of a Peanut butter and jelly sandwich in a smoothie. This recipe was not intentional at all. When I tried it it brought me back to my childhood. I love Peanut butter and Jelly but don’t tend to make them anymore. Its nice to have it in smoothie form.

Smoothies are great because you can load them with tons of nutrients. I chose to use a nut butter is this smoothie. I want this smoothie to have protein and healthy fats.

Getting my daily protein in can seem challenging because I  have eliminated meat and diary from my diet. This week I want to focus all of my recipes on natural sources of plant based protein. Some amazing benefits of nuts and seeds are the are packed with nutrients. A great example is the  brazil nut, Just one nut is more than the daily recommended intake for selenium providing over 100% of the nutrient. Another benefit you may not think about when you think about nuts and seeds is they have anti inflammatory properties. One of the more obvious benefits is the great source of fibre. My favourite benefit of of nuts and seed is the Versatility! You can never get bored with them. You can have them in nut butter, toasted, raw, chopped and so much more.

For this recipe I chose Almond Butter and Almond milk.

Here is everything you will need:

Ingredients:

1 Ripe Banana

1/2 avocado

1/2 almond milk

1 tbsp almond butter

1/3 cup strawberries

1/2 cup ice cubes

1 tsp spirulina powder

1 scoop of strawberry protein powder.

Now all you have to do is blend and enjoy this amazing smoothie. ❤

What is your favourite nut butter? I hope you give this recipe a try!! Thank you for visiting the blog.
