MY FINAL REVIEW ON THE WILD ROSE HERBAL DTOX | Mind,Body & Spirit Series.

Hey Loves!!

Here is my final thoughts on the Wild Rose Herbal Dtox. This 12 day Cleanse was an amazing experience.

One of the major benefits of this Detox for me was the mental clarity I received, my mind became so sharp and focused. I also had high energy levels.

Another benefit of the cleanse was weight loss, reduced puffiness in my skin and extremely clear skin.

My favourite benefit was my improved flexibility. Well doing yoga I noticed I could go much further in my poses and stretches. Also after a workout I did not have muscle soreness. SO AMAZING!!

One con that quickly became a huge benefit was the Recommended Diet. I intitaly found it difficult but it force me to research recipes and try new ingredients which in turn became a huge benefit to my plant based eating. By eliminating a lot of options I had to become creative. I love the new recipes and Can not wait to share them with you.

I have a few tips mentioned in the video. Before starting the cleanse take a look at the recommended diet and brainstorm so meals.

I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this Dtox.

If you have tried it, how did it go??

Red Quinoa and Bulgur Veggie Bowl | Detox Friendly Recipes.

Red Quinoa and Bulgur Veggie Bowl

Hey Loves!!

Happy Friday!

I am officially on Day 12 of my Wild Rose Herbal Detox. One of the biggest challenges of this detox was the recommended diet. The purpose of the recommended diet was to remove Sugar (including tropical fruit), Diary, Seafood, Gluten, and fermented foods. I felt great on this plan and have learned a couple new options to substitute in place of other ingredients. I made these Quinoa and Bulgur Veggie bowls that were delicious and fulfilling.

Quinoa is world famous and been around for many many years being called “mother of all grains”. Some even call Quinoa the world top health food and with good reason. Quinoa is the perfect carbohydrate replacement it is high in protein and gluten free. Quinoa also has an impressive nutritional profile this amazing grain is high in Fibre , B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, vitamin E, and packed with antioxidants called Flavonoids. Quinoa is rich in iron. One cup of cooked quinoa (185 grams) contains about 3 mg of iron, which is 15% of the daily requirement. The B vitamins in quinoa also play a role in digestion, weightless and promote better overall metabolic health. With all of these fantastic health benefits it is no surprise Quinoa is so popular. Quinoa is also so easy to incorporate into your diets. I have used Quinoa in a few baking recipes and I can not wait to share with you.

How do you like to enjoy Quinoa??

Here is what you need for this super simple Bowl.

1 cup of red quinoa

1/2 Bulgur

1 Red onion (chopped)

1 Tsp of Garlic (chopped)

1/2 cup Red and Yellow peppers (sliced)

1/2 Bok Choy (chopped)

1 cup of Spinach (1/2 cooked / 1/2 raw)

1/2 Green snap peas

1 Tbsp of Coconut Oil

1/2 Garlic Powder

1/2 Oregano

1/2 Red chilli flakes

1 Lime

Start by prepared your veggies, wash and chop them. Set aside. Wash Quinoa and bulgur in cold water.

In a Large Pot bring 2 1/2 cups of Water to a boil. Add Quinoa, and Bulgur to water. Reduce to Low temperature and cover for 10 mins.

After 10 mins  water should reduce and you can fluff the quinoa and bulgur. Remove from heat.

In a Large Pot, add tbsp of Coconut oil and cook onions for 1 minute. Add Garlic, spices,  peppers, Bok choy cook for another 3 minutes. Lastly you can add spinach and snap peas and squeeze 1/2 the Lime juice.

Now you can Combine the Veggies and Quinoa/Bulgur. Mix well.

To garish I used 1/2 Lime, the rest of the spinach.

Thats it in about 15 mins you have a Yummy Meal.

Bon Appetit !!

5 Lessons I have Learned in 2019 | Mind, Body and Spirit.

Hey Loves!!

Thank you so much for visiting my Blog. I wanted to explain why I am including all of these self help/ spirituality aspects to my blog and youtube channel. I have gone and am still going through a massive change in my life, 2019 was the best year of my life. It has taught me so much and I wanted to share my top 5 lessons learned as they were transformative on my personal journey.

I am currently taking a few Holistic Nutrition course and Intergrative Medicine course. These courses have truly inspiring the direction I want to take this blog and youtube channel. I want to include food for our MIND, BODY and SPIRIT. We have so many external factors that effect our health. I believe it all starts in our minds, we have to feed our minds first. Heal from past to move forward stronger and healthier. In doing so we will be on the journey to our best version of ourselves.

I am still on this journey myself and don’t claim to be an expert but I do believe I have a voice in this space and in 2020 I want to use it.

What lessons have you learned in 2019?? I would love to hear 🙂

Beet and Ginger Juice. | Detox Friendly | Energy Boosting Healthy Juice.

Hey Loves !!

This week I’m officially on Day 9 of the wild rose herbal detox. This Detox has a recommended diet with a lot of restrictions. I added a lot of fresh veggie juices into the diet. One of my favourite juice combinations to prepare is Beet and Ginger. Beets have a beautiful deep red colour and depth of flavour.

Beetroots, commonly known as beets, are a popular root vegetable used in many dishes around the world. Beets have an impressive nutritional profile. They are low in calories and high in essential vitamins and minerals. They contain a  good amount of almost all the vitamins and minerals that our bodies require. Beets contain a high concentration of nitrates, which lower blood pressure. Beets may have anti-inflammatory properties. Beets are a good source of fibre, which is beneficial for digestive health. Beets have a high water and low calorie content. Beetroot is a delicious and versatile vegetable that is easy to add to your diet.

How do you incorporate beets into your diet?

To make this Beet and Ginger juice it is very easy. Simply wash your beets and ginger VERY well.

You will need two beets

1 medium ginger root

and your favourite juicer.

I chop them into medium chunks and then juice them. After you have finished store in a Glass Pitcher and refrigerate.

One of my favourite ways to enjoy this juice is in a wine glass! LOL I also have been adding it to my smoothies which is amazing!!!

Now here is something I am working on this year in my effort to be less wasteful, what can I use Beet pulp from after juicing ? I was thinking maybe muffins or a veggie stock?

Any fun ideas? Comment down below… 🙂

Cheers!!

Blueberry Ginger Compote Chia Pudding | Healthy Breakfast ideas | Vegan Breakfast.

Hey Everyone!! Happy Wellness Wednesday! This week I made a Blueberry Ginger Compote that would be fantastic on many different desserts. I think it would be amazing on Cheesecake or waffles. I added it a vanilla chia pudding and It was perfect with the creamy chia pudding.

I add ginger to the blueberry to add another depth of flavour and some added nutrients.

Ginger is one of spicest and most delicious spices. Ginger originated from south east Asia  and is part of the Zingberaceae Family. Ginger contains “Gingerol “ which is a powerful substance that has been used ancient medicine and alternative medicine.

Here are a few amazing Ginger Benefits : Ginger can be effective at reducing the  progression of muscle pain, and may reduce muscle soreness.

It is high in gingerol, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Ginger has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and improve various heart disease risk factors in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Ginger has been shown to  relieve nausea and vomiting after surgery, and in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Gingerol, the bioactive substance in fresh ginger, can help lower the risk of infections.

Ginger is also a immune booster and has vitamins c, b3 and b6 along with minerals like magnesium and potassium.

How do you enjoy this delicious spice?

Me: I love adding ginger to green smoothes and Ginger tea !!! 🌿

This Blueberry Ginger Compote was very simple to make, here is what you will need:

Chewy Lemon Rosemary Cookies | Holiday Recipes

Happy Holidays Everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the season. I made these amazing chewy Lemon and Rosemary cookies. They are super light and chewy on the inside. I infused them with Lemon simple syrup so they are sweet! The Rosemary is the perfect pairing with the lemon. Your house will be filled with rosemary and lemon aroma.

I love the aroma of rosemary! This herb has been used for many years in Traditional Herbal medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. The beautiful rosemary herb (Rosmarinus Officinalis) is a descendant of the Lamaiceae family of plants along with Mint, Oregano, and Basil. Rosemary has some impressive uses and health benefits. It is High in antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Can improve your mood and memory especially when consumed in tea. Rosemary can promote hair growth, weightloss, and improve heart health. This herb also can help lower your blood sugar and improve the health of the eyes. Some amazing ways to use rosemary are to drink in tea, Rosemary extract, and essential oils.

How do you like to use roesmary?

I love diffusing rosemary and rosemary tea. 🙂

Here is everything you will need:

Lemon Simple Syrup:

1 Tbsp of Raw Coconut Sugar

1 Tbsp Lemon Zest

1/2 water

Cookies Dough :

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 tablespoon water

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1/3 cup Rosemary Leaves Chopped finely.

Instructions:

Start on simple syrup. In a Medium pan dissolve sugar into water and add lemon zest. Bring to a boil for 1 minute and reduce heat and allow to cool. Should be syrup consistency.

In a large bowl combine Butter and sugar mix on medium for 5 minutes until fluffy. Slowly Add flour and baking soda and mix until combined. Add wet ingredients (vanilla extract , water and coconut oil) Lastly add simple syrup and lemon zest.  Mix for another minute. Should be soft dough consistency. Fold in the rosemary leaves.

Place dough in the Plastic wrap and place in the refirdgeator for 1 hour or until you are ready to bake.

Preheat oven to 350. With a Tablespoon scoop out cookie onto lined baking sheet. They spread so leave enough room. I used the back of the spoon to create a indent to flatten the cookies. Allow to bake for 9 mins.

They will come out very soft, so allow them to cool for 10 mins before removing them.

Enjoy!!

Candy Cane Espresso | Holiday Recipes.

Happy Holidays everyone !

I am a coffee enthusiast , I could drink coffee all day, everyday!  I have chose to enjoy only one Coffee a day. I can’t help but think of the holiday drinks advertised everywhere with tons of sugar and whipped toppings. I decided to make a low calorie / dairy free alternative that will still satisfy your holiday indulgence and NO FOMO! lol

Dairy has easily been one of the most difficult things to remove from my diet over the years. I am so impressed by the selection of different diary free options at the stores. It is no longer just vegans or those with an intolerance. People who are trying something different enjoy the options aswell. I have found a couple stars choices that I can not live without. These 3 are my personal favs.

Soy Milk – Low Calorie/Low Sugar, closest to diary milk, easily flavoured and non GMO/organic options.

My favourite is Almond milk , It’s low in calories and chock-full of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins D, E and A, calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and phosphorous. Like soy milk it can be flavoured easily.

Coconut Milk – Coconut milk has a creamy consistency and a coconut-flavoured taste. Coconut milk contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs)

What is your favourite dairy alternative??

I made this a nice rich espresso with non dairy coconut milk frothed to give you the creamy texture of whipped cream and topped it with little candy cane bites.

Here is everything you will need for this Fun espresso.

This makes 4 espressos

2 scoops of your favourite Espresso – Cafe Bustelo (I used the coffee moka to make my espresso)

1/3 Silk Coconut for coffee

1 candy cane crushed for the topping.

Step 1 – Fill bottom of moka with filtered water up to valve. Pack your espresso into the moka and flatten with spoon. Place on stove top on low. Should take about 15 mins to brew.

Step 2: While coffee is brewing start preparing the coconut milk in a french press. Warm coconut milk for 10 seconds and place into the french press and pump it for 1 minute. This coconut silk is good for frothing because it keeps the light conisitency.

Step 3: Put espresso into cups and top with frothy Coconut milk. Top with 1/2 of the crushed candy cane and enjoy!!

This is the perfect after dinner treat!! If you do try it tag me on IG @greencupcaketo

Have a great weekend.
